Results of Simulation Software Challenge at the Park Hyatt Hotel, Melbourne, 20th November 2008
Results of Simulation Software Challenge held during the SAP Australia User Group (SAUG) 32nd Plenary Meeting at the Park Hyatt Hotel, Melbourne, 20th November 2008.
This was a very successful event with more than 30 SAUG members attending.
The Concept:
The basic idea was to have product teams attack the same business issue using different approaches and technology. This created an excellent learning opportunity for the audience (to observe a variety of techniques) and also provided an environment for evaluating prospective technologies and solutions. Vendors were able to present their solutions to a targeted audience and were each provided time to describe their solutions, or to showcase any innovative features that they felt might be advantageous to their product.
The Challenge:
Three software vendors entered the Challenge. These were Adobe Pacific with Captivate, EPSI Asia with On Demand UPK, and RWD Technologies with Productivity Pak. The contestants were given 25 minutes to produce a simulated e-learning lesson, in front of a live audience, that would assist a novice SAP user to create a new message in SAP Business Workplace, add a file to it and then send it by e-mail to a selected recipient. Each vendor then had a further 10 minutes to show and explain their lesson, and to expand upon the features available in their particular software product.
The audience acted as judges of the event, and voted on a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being the highest score) on each of the four criteria shown below. The scores were calculated by averaging the total votes for each contestant against each criterion, by the number of participating voters.
The Vote:
Congratulations to EPSI Asia with On Demand UPK being the winner of criteria 1, 2 & 3 and, the outright winner. Congratulations also to Adobe Pacific with Captivate being the winner of criteria 4.
SAUG wishes to thank all those who participated in the event, particularly the vendors who gave so freely of their time and resources.
